This chapter teaches us about the different seasons and how our life changes with each one. We learn that there are six seasons in a year. They are summer, rainy season or monsoon, autumn, pre-winter or dewy season, winter, and spring. Although there are six seasons in our calendar, we mostly feel four main seasons around us. These are summer, rainy, winter, and spring.
Summer is very hot and sunny. During summer, people like to swim in cool water, drink cold juices, and eat ice cream. Dolly wears light cotton frocks in summer to feel cool and comfortable. Next comes the monsoon or rainy season. Dark clouds fill the sky and bring heavy rains. Children carry umbrellas and wear raincoats so that they do not get wet on their way to school.
Autumn has pleasant weather, and green leaves begin to turn dry and fall from the branches. After autumn comes pre-winter, which is also called the dewy season. In this season, tiny dew drops shine on the grass, the air turns cool, and we wear gloves to keep our hands warm. Winter is very cold. Prithvi visits Shimla with his friends, where they see snow and play happily. In winter, people wear warm clothes like sweaters, mufflers, and jackets, and they like to sit in the bright sunlight.
Finally, spring arrives with lovely weather. Flowers bloom all around, gardens look colourful, and children enjoy playing outdoors happily. The chapter also shows different clothes we wear in our daily life, such as sarees, shirts, lungis, frocks, and suits. Through sweet poems, fun riddles, and picture activities, this lesson helps us understand what to eat, what to wear, and how to enjoy every season.
