This chapter helps young learners practice English greetings, letter sounds, reading, and writing. It begins with daily greetings that we use at different times of the day. We say "Good morning" in the morning, "Good afternoon" in the afternoon, and "Good evening" in the evening. When we go to sleep at night, we say "Good night". We can also greet our elders and friends with "Namaskar" whenever we meet them.
Next, the lesson introduces English letters from Q to Z along with common objects that begin with their sounds. For example, we see words like quilt and quill for 'q', rainbow and rose for 'r', spoon and swan for 's', and tomato and table for 't'. It continues with uniform and umbrella for 'u', van and violin for 'v', well and watch for 'w', x-ray and xylophone for 'x', yak and yo-yo for 'y', and zip and zebra for 'z'. Students also listen to initial sounds and identify the odd picture or word from a group.
A fun picture talk section shows common things found inside a bathroom, such as a tap, bucket, mug, soap, towel, mirror, and washbasin. It reminds children to save water by closing running taps properly when not in use.
In the reading and writing sections, students match capital and small letters, trace dotted letters on four lines, and complete the alphabet sequence on an engine train. They also practice singing the alphabet song using loud voices for capital letters and soft voices for small letters. Finally, children explore fun activities like colouring pictures that begin with the letter 'T' and using alphabet flash cards in front of a mirror to see how letters look.
