This chapter teaches us about our family and the love we share with each member. A family has many people living together, such as a father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, and sister. Some big families also have uncles, aunts, and cousins. Family members help one another with daily chores like cooking, cleaning, drawing rangoli, and caring for animals. They also enjoy eating, playing, reading, singing, and dancing together.
We also learn a lovely story about a sparrow family. Mama sparrow and Papa sparrow find a safe place on a tree to build a nest. They make the nest soft and warm for their young ones. Mama sparrow lays three little eggs. Soon, the eggs hatch, and three tiny chicks pop out. Papa sparrow brings food for the hungry babies. The grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all visit the nest to meet the new babies. As the young sparrows grow bigger and stronger, they learn to hop out of the nest and fly happily into the big blue sky.
In this lesson, we practice naming our family members in English and saying the names of our own parents and grandparents. We learn about initial letter sounds using the letters 'f' and 'm'. Words like father, fox, feather, food, foot, five, and flag begin with the 'f' sound. Words like mother, man, mask, mouse, moon, monkey, and mouth begin with the 'm' sound.
Finally, we learn how to complete a family tree by placing members in their right positions. The chapter also includes a fun craft activity where we draw faces of our family members, paste them on thick paper strips, and make cute puppets to play with our classmates.
