This chapter teaches us about different animals and birds that live in our surroundings. It begins with a sweet song about a grandfather who owns a farm. On his farm, he keeps many animals. A cow lives on the farm and makes the sound moo-moo. A hen also stays there and makes the sound cluck-cluck. Another little song tells us about Jeje, who keeps lovely cats that say mew-mew.
Next, a young boy named Jaggu introduces us to his home in Nagpur. He takes us around and shows the different animals near his house. A friendly dog stays near the gate of the house. Two playful cats run and jump up and down in the verandah. A cow stands under a shed and eats green grass. There is also a tiny rat running around, and a cat chases it. Up in the green trees, monkeys swing from branch to branch and jump happily. Beside the house, there is an open field where snakes live, so everyone must walk carefully there.
Jaggu then shows us the birds that visit his neighbourhood. We see a crow that is black in colour and a pigeon that is grey. A sparrow is also there, and it is a small bird. We see a bright parrot that is green with a pretty red beak. There is also a wonderful peacock that has many lovely colours on its body.
At the end of the chapter, we practice fun activities such as colouring farm animals, naming their colours, and writing about an elephant with one trunk and two eyes. The lesson teaches us that animals and birds are our good friends, and we should always love and care for them.
