Children love playing games and having fun outdoors, whether they are playing near water or walking on village paths. In this chapter, a young boy named Ravi, who studies in Class 4, shares his daily experience of going to school. Every morning, Ravi and his friend walk to school together on foot. To reach their school quickly, they choose the shortest route. This pleasant path leads them through open paddy fields where rice is grown and across a green mango grove before reaching the main road.
Their daily journey between home and school is full of excitement and joyful adventures. Along the way, the two friends leap over small water canals, climb trees, and swing happily from tree branches. They also stop to look at and observe garden lizards carefully. Even though they enjoy playing many fun games along the path, they manage their time well and always reach school on time.
Through Ravi's story, students also learn many useful English words and simple grammar rules. The chapter introduces new vocabulary such as paddy field, grove, route, swinging, and watching. It introduces the 'ch' sound with words like chart, chalk, and chair. Learners also practise reading words with the short vowel 'a' sound and understand how the article 'an' comes before words like ant, axe, and apple. Finally, the lesson teaches about naming words, which are words that name persons, places, things, animals, and fruits. This helps young learners describe what they see every day in their own surroundings.
