In this story, a young girl named Meena goes towards a stream near a bamboo bridge to play. She bends down and gently puts a handmade paper boat into the water. The boat sails down the stream swiftly, and Meena feels delighted. Happy with her play, she continues placing several more paper boats into the running water.
As the boats float along the stream, a naughty boy sitting by the water starts pushing and overturning them. Meena stares at him angrily and shouts at him to stop. When she asks him why he is spoiling her boats, the boy replies that it is fun for him. Meena firmly explains that they are her boats and asks him not to ruin them. The boy thinks for a moment, promises not to do it again, and says that he also wants to play. However, he confesses that he does not know how to fold paper to make boats.
Instead of staying angry, Meena kindly offers to help him. She takes out coloured paper of different sizes and demonstrates how to fold and re-fold the paper step by step. The boy watches her carefully and makes a few boats of his own. Soon, both children place their boats into the stream and watch them sail away happily together.
Through this delightful story, students learn the importance of kindness, helping others, and sharing. The chapter also teaches new vocabulary, rhyming words like sun and run, the correct use of pronouns 'He' and 'She', and common prepositions of place such as in, on, and under. Above all, it gives the beautiful message that true happiness comes from sharing.
