Papu was a young schoolboy who loved having many friends. He often boasted about his popularity and claimed that everyone at school was his friend. One day, his grandfather told him that most of these people were only companions, not real friends. To teach him an important lesson, the grandfather challenged Papu to a bet of fruit chaat. When Papu accepted, his grandfather went up to the attic and pretended to bring down an invisible chair. He told Papu that this special chair was tricky to sit on, but if he could balance on it at school, its magic would reveal who his true friends really were.
Brave and determined, Papu took the invisible chair to school the next day. During the break, he asked his classmates to make a circle around him so they could witness something amazing. When Papu tried to sit on the unseen chair, he missed it completely and fell straight onto the floor. His classmates burst into laughter. Even though he kept falling again and again, Papu refused to give up. While most of the children continued to laugh loudly and enjoy his bad luck, Papu tried once more.
Suddenly, on his next attempt, Papu did not hit the ground. He remained suspended in mid-air. Looking around, he discovered that three of his classmates—Rony, Amrit, and Prateek—were holding him up with care. At that moment, Papu understood the real magic of his grandfather's chair. A true friend does not take pleasure in someone else's misfortune; instead, a true friend always steps forward to offer support and help in difficult times.
That evening, Papu took his three loyal friends to meet his grandfather. Since Grandpa had won the bet, they all celebrated together by eating delicious fruit chaat and listening to stories. From that day on, the boys used the magic chair test to find lifelong friends.
